How JPG to PNG conversion works
JPG is a lossy format optimized for photographs, while PNG uses lossless compression that preserves every pixel exactly. FileKit decodes each JPG using your browser's built-in image engine, then re-encodes the pixels as a PNG. The conversion preserves the current quality of the JPG (though it cannot recover detail lost during JPG compression). PNG files will be larger than the original JPGs, but they will not degrade further with future edits. Everything runs locally in your browser.
How to Convert JPG to PNG
- 1
Upload JPG images
Drag and drop one or more .jpg or .jpeg files into the upload area. You can also click to browse and select files from your device.
- 2
Convert automatically
Each JPG is decoded and re-encoded as a lossless PNG in your browser. No quality slider is needed because PNG compression is always lossless.
- 3
Download converted PNGs
Download files individually or grab all of them at once as a ZIP archive. The PNG files are ready for editing or further use.
