How JPG to WebP conversion works

WebP is a modern image format that uses advanced compression to deliver smaller files than JPG at the same visual quality. FileKit decodes each JPG using your browser's built-in image engine, then re-encodes the pixels as WebP. At equivalent quality settings, WebP files are typically 25–34% smaller than JPGs. The entire process runs locally — your photos never leave your device.

How to Convert JPG to WebP

  1. 1

    Upload JPG images

Drag and drop one or more .jpg files into the upload area. You can also click to browse and select files from your device.

  2. 2

    Adjust quality (optional)

Use the quality slider to set WebP compression. 80–85% gives excellent results for most photos. Higher values keep more detail.

  3. 3

    Download converted WebP files

Each JPG is converted to WebP in your browser. Download files individually or grab all of them at once as a ZIP archive.
